HELP KEEP HORROR ALIVE!!
Kaiju Nick's top 5!
ReplyDelete5) Night of the Living Dead (1968)
The zombie Cooper girl murders her mother.
4) The Shining (1980)
The best off screen murder in film history is the Grady twins.
3) Jaws (1975)
The great horror movie opening, Jaws does this trope the best of all time.
2) King Kong (1933)
Kong is free in New York, climbing around, looking for Fay Wray. He grabs a woman out of her room. She's not his girl, so he drops her. The visual effects really hold up; it's a masterful shot, the screaming woman falling blended with the screaming sirens below.
1) Frankenstein (1931)
The OG greatest horror movie murder:
The Monster and the little girl, Maria, with the flowers.
I love these choices, zombie cooper girl is still one of the most shocking kills in history.
DeleteOk, Land of the Creeps, time for honorable mentions on this great topic:
ReplyDeleteClash of the Titans (1981)--Harryhausen's Medusa, a masterful scene.
Pacific Rim (2013)--Gipsy Danger dispatches Leatherback! I love it when the helicopters drop the jaeger into the water—epic battle mech moment!
War of the Gargantuas (1966/1970)--Green Gargantua eats a whole group of cheerful japanese hikers. Gaira, how could you!
WWF In Your House 11: Undertaker vs Mankind Buried Alive Match (1996).
OG Helleraiser (1987)--”Jesus Wept,” Frank's last words.
Love the buried alive match, I wish we could get matches like those again.
